Michael Gardner
Michael is strong character to have in the team, players look up to him and respect him, started the season at where he left off last season at left back, but we had a difficult patch in February and I told him he was a great keeper with potential and he as taken that in and shone at this position. He doesn’t panic in situations, due to him being and outfield player before, he reads the game very well. Josh GillespieJosh came to the team in early 2008 when we had no keeper due to players wanting a change of position, forced us into getting another keeper very quickly and Josh fitted the bill very well. He is a great shot stopper and has improved in his distribution since he first appeared for us, I have spoke to him about improving his dealing of crosses ad high balls and expect him to get the best of soon. Jamie Cogill Jamie is a new member of the squad this year arriving in the season from the club up the road, Millmoor Jnrs, their loss - our gain. This player has great potential to be a better right back than his dad was, when I played with him a few years ago. When he first arrived his confidence was at an all time low, but this has steadily grown throughout the season, he likes to play football the right way, get it down and pass. He needs to improve his strength and heading which I’m sure he’ll work on throughout the summer. James Alderson James is a strong no nonsense centre half that takes no chances, big, commanding, and is improving every year. When he first came to the club he did like to mess about and act the fool sometimes, it took time for me to get through to him want I wanted him to do in the team, but he now learning fast, this season especially. Needs to improve his understanding of where the ball is going before its passed and also some times he has more time than he thinks and possibly could get the ball down and play passes instead off just booting the, but that will come more understanding and the learning off reading the game and areas around himself. Kurt Waters Kurt is a strong willed person with emotion and ambition, like most players doesn’t like losing which is a good quality to have. He’s strong, good in the air, commanding, two footed and also score goals as well. He reads the game very well for a young lad. He can also throw the odd strop but he knows what is needed to win games. He as improved leaps and bounds over the last couple of years and hope he does so over the next couple as well. Stephen Maycock Stephen is new addition to the team this season, but what an addition, this lad as a cracking left foot, great brain and likes to play football the right way, pass and move. Set pieces are his cup of tea and loves free kicks around the box, he reads the game very well, gets himself in the right positions 9 times of 10. Vice captain of the team this year due to this and his experience of playing at high levels of football in his career and cool and calm under pressure approach to the game. Danny Seddon Danny is new to the team this season, not played Sunday football before only played for school, at beginning of season took time to adapt to that and it took time for me to find his best position but we have settled on Right back which he also plays at school so learning both at school and we us. He’s strong, aggressive type of player that takes no chances with the ball, commanding type of player that puts himself about and will never pull out of a tackle. Improved since beginning of season, hopefully will again throughout the summer to challenge for place in the B division of football next season. Dylan Bancroft Dylan is a good attacking player, likes to score goals, create chances for others and never stops running, always wants the ball, good at harassing players that have the ball. He’s the type of player that people call the terrier of the side, when he wants the ball he keeps at it until he gets it, non stop engine, and great stamina, never tired. What I would like him to learn throughout the summer for next season is that when he wins the ball to look for others and make good runs off the ball to create more good chances for himself and others, look easy calm passes, makes good progress going forward. Jordan Shaw Jordan is the captain of the side, when he plays well the side generally does, he’s a centre midfielder that can make 5, 10 yard passes and also do the killer pass in behind the defence, he sees people running quicker than others. Gets forward now and then and scores vital goals. He tackling sometimes lets him down but that’s something he can improve, also I would like him sometimes to see the keeper of his line unleash a shot, remember the saying - if you don’t shoot you’ll never score. Joseph Lancaster Joe is a new addition to the team, came from a lower division to us played left wing last year, I see him as a central midfielder. He’s very strong, good tackler, two footed and decent in the air, gets from box to box. He harasses players with the ball wins the tackles likes a shot or two, scored some goals outside the box this season. I want him to improve his heading and distribution, when winning the ball he has to be quicker with the pass to team-mates, he’s been caught this year with ball at his feet and suffered some bad injuries. Karl Coughlan Karl is also a new player to this team this season, an exciting prospect, got great foot, both of them. Good brain, likes to get it down and play, sometimes lacks confidence but that will come with performances, I think he doesn’t realise how good he is. He’s the type of player that likes to player behind the strikers playing the killer passes and unlocking the defence. Michael Tomlinson Michael is simlar to Karl in that has got two good feet, great going forward and can unlock the defence with killer passes. In training he’s the best player around, taking people on, skills galore, when we playing on Sunday sometimes he takes time to show that same performance, but that will come with confidence. His tackling and heading his is weakness in his game but we’ll work on that in the summer and he will make a good player for the future. Ashley Jarvis Ashley is another new addition to the team, started at left back played up front in second half of season, done a decent job, scored 8 goals plus, could have more made good runs behind defence, good in air, strong player that gives his all for the team. Sometimes needs to get the ball out of his feet quicker and make the passes to team mates then make the runs to collect the return ball. Work on his first touch throughout the summer and we have a good player on our hands. Kyle Smith Kyle is also a new addition to the team this year, played for a team in the bottom division scored 26 goals for them and found it tougher in this division but as the season went on got to grips with well, struggled with the pass and move of the team that we play but by the time Christmas was here we knew we had signed a good player. He’s a striker by trade, works his socks off for the team and then gets himself in goal scoring opportunities. Needs to work on his first touch, I want it to perfect control and then lay the ball off wide and get in the box to score. Needs to be a bit more aggressive and greedy in front of goal, remember you are a striker. |
